Ownmed Innovation is a MedTech spin-off that emerged from the collaboration between the Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón (FIBHGM), the Fundación Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Fundación Jiménez Díaz (FIIS-FJD), and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Currently, it is affiliated with the Incubation and Acceleration Program of the UC3M Scientific Park and the V Acceleration Program of La Nave in Madrid. Its main objective is the development of a medical device, Ostofix®, aimed at ostomate patients, with the purpose of restoring their ability to regain control over their continence.

Ana Ye Zhang is the CEO and founder of Ownmed Innovation. With a strong background in nursing and biomedical engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Ana has combined her knowledge and experience in healthcare with her technical training to lead research and development projects. In addition to her work as CEO, Ana has had experience in the national public health system as a nurse, providing her with a broad understanding of the needs and challenges of the healthcare system, which has contributed to her focus on creating accessible and high-quality medical solutions. Currently, she manages the company comprehensively, handling client contacts, seeking funding, developing new applications, and creating the best business strategy.
MD, PHD (CO-FOUNDER & SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR)
Manuel Desco is a distinguished figure in the fields of medicine, business, and biomedical engineering research. He is a professor at the Department of Bioengineering and Aerospace at Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), as well as the Head of the Research Department at the General University Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid. Additionally, he leads the Advanced Imaging Unit at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). Dr. Desco’s innovative research has resulted in the creation of 30 patents and numerous developments from his laboratory that have been successfully transferred to the industry, becoming widely-distributed commercial products. With his exceptional experience and expertise, Dr. Desco has focused his efforts on promoting and supporting innovation and technology transfer from hospitals.
Currently, he is part of the scientific advisory board at Ownmed Innovation. His involvement with Ownmed highlights the company’s commitment to partnering with leading experts in the field to deliver cutting-edge, high-quality medical solutions.

Jesús García-Foncillas is a prominent figure in the field of Oncology. He serves as the Director of the Cancer Institute and the Department of Oncology at the University Hospital “Fundación Jiménez Díaz” and is a Professor of Oncology at the Autonomous University in Madrid. Additionally, he is the Director of the Translational Oncology Division at the FJD-UAM Health Research Institute and the Coordinator of the Comprehensive Cancer Program at four university hospitals in Madrid (Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Infanta Elena Hospital, Rey Juan Carlos Hospital, and Villalba General Hospital). Dr. García-Foncillas has held several national and international positions, including Vice President of the National Commission of Medical Oncology and President of the Tenth National Congress sponsored by the Spanish Association for Cancer Research. Currently, he is part of the scientific advisory board at Ownmed Innovation. His involvement with Ownmed highlights the company’s commitment to partnering with leading experts in the field to deliver cutting-edge, high-quality medical solutions.
